For nearly 400 years, perhaps longer if you include the MAGNA CARTA in 1215, English common law has allowed a family which was overburdened by debt to stand before a judge and ask forgiveness.
This is called "declaring bankruptcy."
But GopPigs, with the lead hog Senator (Borrin) Orin Hatch, say enough is enough. It's time to put everyone back in debtor's prison. Why? Because the banks and credit card companies say so.
That's right. The creditors have the power to take away the civil relief of the debtors for the first time in our history, and the GoPpiG majority means for it to happen fast. Now. This year. Next Week

Yahoo! News - Senators Portray Bankruptcy Bill As Unfair
Please take a minute and click on the above Yahoo news link. We have all done this before and know how important it can be.
Right now, 275 readers have given this MAJOR story a very low importance rating. We can only imagine their political perspective. I feel very sorry for anyone who needs to have an end to constant phone calls, threatening mail, suffering depression and harassment from slobs with "800" numbers and phone robots calling you at work or home at all hours of the day and night...all of the things that are not allowed now that would again be legal if this bill were to pass.
I won't diary the entire horror story that collapse of a small business, or family finances, can mean to someone. If you have ever been burdened to the hilt with bills and a phone that won't stop ringing, you probably know what I mean.
But we don't have a lot of chances in this world to support the Democrats in their push to shove this legislation back down the bank's throat.
GopPiGs are getting tremendous monetary contributions from banks and credit cards right now. Dick Gebhardt received over $50,000 in 2002 from banks to sign Democrats on to that year's edition of "Bankruptcy Reform."
If you don't have time to go to your Senator's website, or one of the other major citizen campaign websites on this issue, (I'm sure some comments after this will post them) then at least head on over to the Yahoo news story posted above and give the story a "5."
